Shocking pictures from Zimbabwe
We are continuing to receive stories and details of terrible atrocities from Zimbabwe where the Mugabe regime is attempting to intimidate the population ahead of the Presidential run-off poll, between opposition leader Morgan Tsangerai and Robert Mugabe, to be held on Friday, 27th June.

The Anglican Church has had its services disrupted and its people threatened, largely at the behest of Mugabe mouthpiece ‘Archbishop’ Nolbert Kunonga, but this is only a part of the ongoing state sponsored violence.

We have been asked to carry photographic evidence of these terrible events on our website and readers will be able to find pictures at: www.anglican-information-archive.org under the heading -

Photographs showing some of the terrible atrocities inflicted on opposition MDC supporters by the Mugabe reigime in Zimbabwe –April/May 2008 – this is what the regime is doing to prevent opposition supporters from voting on 27th June in the Presidential run-off election.

Please be aware that these are are horrific pictures and you may not wish to see them.

Envoi
We would also like to be able to carry some clear and unequivocal words of condemnation of Mugabe from the Anglican Provincial Bishops, but they are still hiding behind brave Bishop Sebastian Bakare of Harare who is the only one speaking up. Hiding behind generalised ‘Council of Churches’ type press releases will not do. It is not true to say that the Anglican Church of the Central African Province has condemned Mugabe as some press reports have missed the point in suggesting. We call (again) on Bishop Albert Chama to make, as acting Dean of the Province, a clear personal statement of condemnation of Robert Mugabe and his atrocities.

Chama’s recent ‘Greater Excommunication’ of Nolbert Kunonga, Bishop Elson Jakazi and by implication Kunonga’s and Mugabe’s greatest supporter and helpmeet former Archbishop Bernard Malango, is as farcical as it is meaningless. In the meantime people like the ones in our photographs are dying and suffering the most appalling of injuries – Bishop Chama would you like to tell the world clearly how much you regret this and Robert Mugabe as the cause of it – or are your old friendships inhibiting you?
